Traditionally the connected in car experience has lagged behind the broader mobile industry with Bluetooth handsfree integrated in to MP3 Car radios viewed as a state of the art experience. While this may be fine for today’s mid- to low end vehicles it will not meet the growing needs of consumers as their expectations for car connectivity and entertainment rapidly evolve. In the very near future, we will experience a whole new set of infotainment amenities, delivered by voice controlled, in-dashboard devices running on open platforms, which provide a wealth of applications and content access. This includes cellular voice and data calls, A/V multimedia, touch UI, digital TV, games, PC sync, WLAN connectivity, application stores, SDKs, PC sync, telematics services, and much more.

Sounds familiar somehow? No surprise, most of these technologies went into handhelds years ago, when mobile phones decided to become multimedia devices. These technologies are at the centre of Teleca's competence portfolio. Being a world leader in mobile software, we have been supporting the tier 1 phone makers to help them manage the transitions and innovations in the industry move from hardware sales to software value creation.
