CV tips
The best way to get a job with anyone – and hopefully with us – is to send a tip top CV. Here are 5 tips that make it easy for us to see who you are and where you would best fit with us.
-
Tell us what you’ve done
Of course we want to know what skills you have, but it saves us time if we can glance through our CV and see how you helped other organizations. One way is to tell us what you achieved in different projects – things like developing modules, performing tests to ensure performance, etc. But don’t overdo it. There’s a fine line between marketing yourself and appearing boastful. Make sure you back up your claims about how good you are with evidence of what you’ve done.
-
Put yourself in our shoes
We want to see how you will help our business. So tell us. Emphasize what you’ve done in similar roles and draw our attention to things you’ve done - which could even be student projects or research – if this is your first application. Your CV is a marketing tool, so sell yourself. But please make it individual. It’s a bit of-putting to get a CV that has obviously gone out to 176 other companies.
-
Check and double check
OK, your CV might be in English and that’s not your first language, but by running a spelling and grammar check once you’ve finished, you should be fairly sure that what you’ve written is OK
-
Don’t get too fancy
Yes, you want your CV to stand out, but don’t go over the top with colors and graphics. Make you CV as tight and simple as possible, so we see at a glance how you’ll make a difference to our customers.
-
Give us the right information
Unfortunately we can’t interview everyone, so make sure you give us the right information to put you in the accept pile. We want to know what software programs you are skilled in, what you’ve done for similar companies, your ambitions in the mobile device marketplace, and perhaps a bit about how you can help us serve the world’s best device manufacturers even better.
Good luck!
